Amazing Mexican cuisine, the margaritas are fantastic and guacamole made tableside is not to be missed!
Absolutely amazing. You must get the table-side prepared guacamole. Cocktails were good as well. Ordered vegetarian taco dish and it was phenomenal.
Resteraunt was nice. Felt too poor to be in there with the fancy glass and expensive chips and salsa bowl. Food was nice. Felt like an expensive woman. Restaurant was nice. The to go box could’ve been better. I expected better.
Not for me. If you are looking for typical Mexican, in my opinion this is not that place. The food tasted like another evolution to Americanized Mexican food. The place is nice, it is clean, good music for ambiance, though the music seemed at times to be more Spanish - Flamenco than Latino. Kudos on plating and making food look pretty on the plate.
Food quality and menu is really great and our waiter was on point. Had there been a receptionist there to greet us and not had to wait around for a busser to come by, this would be a five star. It's a cardinal rule to always be greeted walking into a restaurant.
One of the best restaurants in town. I am always excited to go to this place.
Read reviews on Female Foodie and loved the food here. We got the guacamole, queso dip and the green enchiladas. All were amazing. I can’t decide which is better out of here and Chili Tepin. They both are awesome because I know that place is probably a competitor to here.
We shared a few dishes to share for the table and had tons of food. The Brussels side were incredible! And the complimentary rice and beans for the table had so much flavor. The rice was anything but bland! The enchiladas suizas were ok but I wouldn't order them again. They were a little dry and lacked a little flavor.
Don't let the name fool you. This is absolutely NOT Tex-mex. Great margaritas and guacamole. Salsa not so great, way too much garlic. Sauce on Relleno tasted more like a marinara...more garlic. My wife wondered if there was an Italian-town somewhere in Mexico that lost their chef.
I have eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants and this is by far the most superior Mexican food I have ever had. The staff is top notch the servers are amazing the place is clean and well taken care of. They are attentive and take care of all of your needs. I am highly impressed by this place and definitely suggest this is the start if you ever come to Salt Lake City
I really love this Mexican restaurant in downtown Salt Lake. I think I might be one of the best Mexican restaurants in the City.
Delicious! Classy place for a work lunch. I had the Mole Enchiladas, great authentic flavor. The guacamole at the table is really good. I would recommend this place if you're trying to impress someone with an upscale option.
Americanized Mexican food in an upscale/modern comfortable setting with non-Mexican waiters. Good quality meats and huge portions. Dishes tasted fine, but the Mexican noodle soup is bad bad bad. The rice is not authentic, it's like instant rice with salt, butter and pumpkin seeds. Nothing seemed to have cumin (that we ordered). So there you go, you decide.
The decorations in the restaurant were really cool and set the mood well, but they seemed under-staffed and our server wasn’t very good. Their prices are way too high for the amount of food you get. You pay for the arrangement of food on the plate it seemed like. Will not go back, but the food was pretty good!
This place has some of the best Mexican food in Utah. It’s high quality food that tastes amazing. It’s a great experience that I highly recommend. I loved the guacamole, salsas, chip, tacos, enchiladas, pretty much everything. It is right in the heart of Salt Lake, so parking is limited. The ambience was cool and elegant. The service was spectacular. It’s very clean and beautiful. I would recommend visiting outside of rush hours. You cannot go wrong here. The only downside is it is a bit expensive.
We always get great service here. Love everything on the menu!
this hidden gem is located on state street in salt lake and let me tell you it is top notch.. a little gourmet ‘Tex-Mex’ fine dining experience over delivers and did not disappoint myself as well as all my mates.. Named Alamexo, this fine restaurant is play on words that pays homage to the historical event known as the Alamo. Honestly the perfect name for such an eatery with strong theming to make you feel as though you are transported to the actual Alamo itself.. The servers are extraordinarily personable and quick.. the food amazing.. take an extra step beyond the complimentary chips and salsa and order the guacamole, the server prepares it right in front of you and it’s like nothing you’ve ever had before.. after the main course they surprised our table with an extra treat on the house and it made the night that much better.. phenomenal experience
Food was very good. Service too slow. Over priced.
Decent option for Mexican. Food is pretty good though maybe a bit pricy. Expect $15-$20 for lunch. Salsa was very bland but salt helped. There are better places.
My FAVORITE Restaurant in Utah!!! We were in last night celebrating Valentines early, I have been a server before and we do not go out on Valentine’s Day for a very good reason. Lauren was our server and went above and beyond for us! She not only have amazing customer service but even the kitchen and manager were kind hearted!! They had a special batch of Horchata ice cream, homemade that they were saving for tonight and gave us a little taste last night. Thank you sooo much to the entire staff for being so amazing!!! Can’t wait to come back! I highly recommend the fresh guacamole for an appetizer, the chicken suizas, Black beans and garlic rice, and of course their Alamexo margarita. Divine!!!!
Great for a business lunch. The service was great, the guacamole was amazing. Once we ordered our food the plates came out very quickly. In spite of how fast it came out it was nicely prepared and tasted great. I will definitely be going back.
Great Mexican food. Great atmosphere downtown. Highly recommend ordering the tableside guacamole. Also the margaritas are off the chain
Good service and good food... prices were a little high but well worth it. Left full but not too full. Good atmosphere also.
Great food, especially the fresh guacamole made at your table
Great location, pretty good food. I got the enchiladas. The flavors were really on point, however about 30 minutes later I just felt kind of sick. Not like serious, but just icky like I ate a bunch of junk food. Could be unrelated, but I think it was the food. The service was also great. I would return, but not terribly enthusiastically.
They’re guac is really good. The entrees are hit or miss, but when they’re hit, they’re great!
Cool vibe and ambiance, and great food offerings. Service is attentive. We found the overall restaurant to be less than desirable on the cleanliness scale, and simply put, the cost per entree is too high for the offerings.
Alamexo never disappoints! The food, cocktails, and service always exceed expectations. Lauren, our server, made the experience even better. All staff was friendly and helpful.
The food was well presented and it's a cute location, however the food wasn't very flavorful (which is probably more my taste than anything). That being said, their service was phenomenal! We had a large group reservation, and they were helpful and not overbearing. They don't usually do deserts apparently, but when we asked if they could do something they went above and beyond bringing several different deserts out for the whole group, which were very good. 😊
